Rest is the essential. You will probably feel fatigued and sore for several days, and your breasts may remain swollen and sensitive to physical contact for a month or longer.
You may also experience a feeling of tightness in the breast area as your skin adjusts to your new breast size and your breast implants. Your plastic surgeon may also recommend breast massage exercises.
You may need to wear a postoperative bra, compression bandage, or jog bra for extra support and positioning while you heal.
Most patients are able to return to work within a few days. It’s best to avoid any strenuous activities that could raise your pulse and blood pressure for a couple of weeks.
Your doctor will be able to provide you with more specific details about the recovery process. Should any problems occur after your surgery, contact your physician immediately.
An important note: If you experience fever, or noticeable swelling and/or redness in your implanted breast(s), you should contact your doctor immediately.
